Herbs used in herbal paints Indus Valley
Chamomile (Matricaria Chamomilla): The powder from the flowers of this plant lightens the hair and also contains apigenin, which gives the hair colors from golden to yellow.
Indigo (Indigofera Tinctoria): A vat dye obtained from dried indigo leaves; it contains indigo carmine, which gives hair colour from green to blue.
Henna shrub (Lawsonia Inermis): is an excellent basic dye used for centuries as a cosmetic, especially in hair care. In the dried leaves there is an active coloring component, lawson - gives the hair colors from orange to red.
Rubia Cordifolia: A dye containing hydroxyanthraquinone is extracted from the root and bark of the maria cordifolia and gives the hair colour from pink to red.
Amalaka (Emblica Officinalis): adds volume and shine to the hair. It can add a golden shade to your hair.
Bakopa (Bacopa Monnieri): adds health to the hair and improves memory.
Fenugreek (Trigonella Foenum Graecum): darkens hair and stimulates hair growth.
Legume (Cassia Ariculata): the tannins found in its bark and leaves help to maintain colour on the hair.
Certificates
EcoCert is a French organic certification organisation operating since 1991. Although initially focused on promoting organic farming, over time it expanded its scope of certification to include cosmetics, cleaning products and textiles. In order to receive the EcoCert certificate, a cosmetic must meet strict requirements:
the composition of the product must consist of at least 95% plant ingredients of organic origin,
at least 10% of ingredients must be certified organic ingredients,
the ingredients of the product and the product itself must not be: contaminated, exposed to harmful radiation, free from nitrosamines, genetically modified or tested on animals,
packaging must be biodegradable or recyclable,
the production process must be transparent and clean,
the company must manage its waste and energy consumption in an environmentally friendly way.
Since Indus Valley herbal paints consist of 100% certified herbs from organic farming, this product has received EcoCert certification.
The USDA, the U. S. Department of Agriculture, certifies organic crops based on a number of criteria:
method of planting and sowing plants,
method of soil fertilization,
ways of dealing with pests, fungi, diseases and weeds,
cultivation techniques used,
materials used.
